Research
I am particularly interested in the design, development and evaluation of protocols and software architectures for IP-based networks. In general, anything that has to do with systems research in the networking field interests me.
Since moving to Brescia in 2004, I have been focusing on two aspects of these networks: traffic classification and security in mobile networks.
Before joining the University of Brescia, I spent several years at Bell Labs (NJ, USA) concentrating on the wireless aspects of IP-based networks. There I designed and implemented protocols that deal with the issues related to security, efficiency and support for real-time traffic in wireless IP networks, including the design and implementation of an integrated 802.11/3G wireless network.

Work history
Mar. 2005 - present: associate professor of telecommunications at the "Università degli Studi di Brescia", in (well, you must have guessed it...) Brescia, Italy.
Jan. 2003 - Feb. 2005: Lecturer with the EE Dept., University of Brescia (Italy).
1998 - 2005: Bell Labs Research, Lucent Technologies, Holmdel, NJ, USA (on leave from Jul. 2003 through Jan. 2005).
1995-1998: CEFRIEL (Research and Educational Centre for Information Technology), Milan, Italy.
Teaching
Since January, 2003, I have been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Networking (pages in Italian) at the University of Brescia.
Personal
I like to travel, hike, play the piano. I also love literature, especially books from the late 1800 on. Finally, I like every aspect of photography, from taking pictures, to digitizing and printing them.
